  • Well, I signed up for Savage, like I sign up for every decent looking beta I can find. What can I say, I have a lot of time on my hands...
I didn't know then that it would allow me to play one hell of a game. This game is the first new FPS since UT to actually have me sitting on the edge of my seat while playing. In my opinion UT was the best FPS ever (flame me), and ever since it has just been same old same old..
Savage on teh other hand opened a whole new world to me, it requires teamplay and a good commander. At first I thought I would be annoyed by someone commandeering me around, but I actually found out I like it.
No, I am not into masochism btw. The Commander does not just make sure you get some decent weapons or boss you around. He is the one with the best oversight, and the game works best if the players respond and action as the commander "orders". You in no way have to obey, but with a good commander it makes a huge difference between winning a match or losing it.
Savage opened up a whole new world for me, it has the edge of close combat melee, long distance sniping, explosives that makes your world shudder and your defenses crumble and the combination between RTS and FPS is the best of it all.

Savage means teamwork, strategy, playerskill and blasting your enemies into oblivion!

For those of you who think my reply is too long: It r0xx0rs

  • This game freaking ROCKS. I've been in the beta for two weeks. I usually start start the game around 8 at night, and have stayed up until 1-4AM every morning. It's addictive as anything, and the command mode is awesome. Coordinating attacks, routes, with intelligent people on the other end... what a rush.

The dynamic of the game is fluid... you can think you're loosing, but then your commander researches a ballista in a remote location, allowing you to take down the enemy turrets that were standing in your way.

The commander not only researches technologies and coorinates attacks, but also has a hand in the battles themselves. I don't know how much I can say... but rest assured that late-game commanding is just as hectic as early/mid-game.

And, of course, players can be promoted, and officers can give orders themselves to coordinate the specifics of the general attack plan.

Wow... just... WOW. This game fulfills the perfect nich that I've been waiting for since Starsiege Tribes came so close... and does it better than any other game I've played since.

And don't get me started about the custom maps you can build. They've got everything in there. Want to change the duration of the day? Angle of the sun's traversal? Color of the clouds? All simple settings.
