Updated nForce Drivers

Quickly following the 2.41 driver release, NVidia has now released nForce drivers 2.42 for Windows 2000 and Windows XP, removing the previous included IDE driver. This driver wasn't exactly all that great. Thanks TommysGun.

I'm just going to hang out until Asus updates their nForce2 driver distribution. At least then I'll have some sense that it was tested with my mobo. But hey, good luck to everybody.

Does the nForce mobo offer anything over other mobos? I know it has a built in gfx card but can you plug an agp card and bypass the onboard gfx? The nForce has DD5.1 sound but is it better or worse than an Audigy card?

  right now nforce2 offers very buggy performance. there dolby sound is worthless if you get audio crackli... : agrivaine

DO NOT FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS AND REVERT. AS #15 REPORTS, SOME PEOPLE CANNOT BOOT THEIR SYSTEMS AFTER REVERTING to 2.03!!!!! I'm one of them. SO fucking pissed. had to run to work to get the specific XP media I installed with to do a repair install.

Only reason to change to this version is if you were having IDE problems. You would know if you had issues with it, I'm sure. I'll just wait to update it again when they fix the built-in NIC problems. Well, they probably won't.

The only difference I can see so far in the new drivers is that in Win2k, the ide driver has been completely removed. Not a big deal for me, as installing the IDE driver rendered my machine unbootable unless I used the last know good configuration mode on boot. Still, I would love a workable IDE driver under Win2k
