Star Wars: Republic Commando Announced
by Maarten Goldstein, May 13, 2003 3:41pm PDTThe E3 announcements continue. LucasArts has announced development of Republic Commando, a new Star Wars shooter to be released on PC and Xbox. The game is powered by the Unreal engine, and will be released in 2004. There aren't exactly a whole lot of details on the game, this is about it (there's a nice looking cinematic trailer though)
Star Wars: Republic Commando will present a dramatic military-style action experience from the point-of-view of an elite squad member of a Republic Special Operations unit. Players will step into the role of a Commando performing precision operations deep behind enemy lines in this brutally realistic Star Wars combat experience.

Lets see, we have:
Star Wars: Galaxies (MMORPG Series, I don't doubt they will make a sequal to it too)
Star Wars: Dark Forces (FPS Series, counts for the entire Jedi Knight and Jedi Outcast series)
Star Wars: Rogue Squadron (Arcade Flight Sim, many sequals to come)
Star Wars: Galactic Battlegrounds (RTS series, might be dead, who knows)
Star Wars: The Clone Wars (Action game series, sequal in the works I think)
Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic (Action RPG series, okay so this might not be a series, but I am sure it will become one)
-AND NOW-
Star Wars: Republic Commando (Squad-based FPS series, oh yes it will be a series probably)
I think Lucas Arts really needs to start making more non-Starwars games. Sam and Max: Freelance Police looks like it is going to own though. I don't really blame Lucas Arts for making Star Wars games or anything, as they are the only ones that can and it is a pretty successful market. I just am tired of Star Wars, after Episode 3 comes out I don't want to hear anything more about Star Wars ever again. oh how I wish.
Don't get me wrong I like Star Wars, I just hate how its milked it like crazy.

Epic, the engine company!!
Does that mean many droids will be destroyed, and troopers are taken down with 1 shot to the shoulder?
