The Microsoft PR folks sent along a press release, announcing Dungeon Siege 2. Again in development at Gas Powered Games, the RPG sequel will be released in 2004. The game will be shown at E3, but there isn't any info on what will be new.

  • I wanted to like Dungeon Siege, I even played up to the last level before I couldn't muster any care anymore. The engine was magnificent, but the game behaved like a small-squad size Total Annihilation. I'm even willing to believe that was what GPG was aiming for, but the gameplay was just weak. Furthermore, while randomly generated l3wtz is ok up to a point, it just got to a point where it didn't make sense anymore in DS. Why do I want a axe that gives +3 to Nature and +2 Dex that has a Str req of 32 or something? (numbers pulled out of ass, people who've played know what I mean). It was like Diablo II Lite, when Diablo II is already BG 2 Lite. Give me either interesting loot or tactical decisions to make, but give me neither and I get grumpy.
