THQ today announced that they will be publishing S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Oblivion Lost, the upcoming first person action game from GSC Game World. The press release mentions a generic 2004 date as a release date for the game.

2004? Nooooooooooo! Oh well, I'll keep plenty busy with all the other late 2003 games this year, and maybe we'll get some more solid release info at E3. If this is a situation where they've decided to delay it to make it 100% perfect then I'm all for it.

One thing I hope they do is good english voice acting. There has been mention of them doing it all in russian, and considering the setting of the game (and the game developers) that would make sense, but reading subtitles obviously isn't as immersive as listening to someone talk. That's why I take the subtitles off when a game will let me.

I hope they don't fuck this up. The screens I've seen so far look pretty cool, but there seems to be a conspicuous lack of action in them. Kinda makes me think of kreed. It looked real good until I saw it in action. I hope this doesn't suffer the same fate.

Wonder if they're pushing it back to avoid the glut of high profile fps being released towards the end of this year (HL2, Doom3, Halo PC, TRON). Pretty smart to be honest.

THQ is really trying to become a bigger publisher with a better name. They signed Broken Sword 3: The Smoking Mirror and the next two games from Relic before. Seems they are really going in the right direction now!
