They said the robots weren't affected by the nukes. Ummmmm, the EMP generated by a nuclear blast would fuck them in the goatass.

Having said that, I do appreciate the cinematography and martial arts scenes for the excellent work they are. The plot, well, not so damm much.

Second Renaissance is by far the best of the released Animatrix eps, probably because it was written by The Boys. One of my favorite things is that the humans are really the bad guy.

Neo discovers the real reason behind the war and real use the machines have for humanity. Ask yourself this: Why would the machines bother to build a robot army to beat the humans? It would be FAR simpler to release a deadly disease into the eco-system that killed off a majority of the human race (and this is eluded to in a small way in the lastest movie but not to the effect I'm thinking of).
The answer is this: The machines do NOT use humans for power, they use them as cluster computers! The machines have become parasitic and use human minds to run the martix and their own computing cycles! This is why they had to beat the humans on the battle-field, they couldnt exterminate them because that would deprive them of a huge computing resource.
Still, this leaves open the problem of why the machines were not destroyed by EMP weapons; even shielding a small object or room against EMP is difficult and expensive, today or tomorrow.

Nuclear weapons didn't hurt the machines? What about EMP? It's what they use in the movie to hurt the machines. Oh well, it was good anyway.

That said, like in part one, there is some really disturbing, powerful imagery in this episode. Really really good.

a quick "mov to avi" or similar search on google will give you more info on this, if this guide doesn't work/isn't the best way
