Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines Revealed
by Maarten Goldstein, May 05, 2003 6:29pm PDTTalk about unexpected news. There's going to be a Vampire: The Masquerade sequel boys and girls, according to this news item on GameSpot. Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines as it's called, will be developed by Troika Games (the company currently working on the Infogrames RPG Greyhawk: The Temple of Elemental Evil) and will mix first person action with RPG elements. Now that would be exciting enough news for fans of the original game, but there's more: it's powered by the Half-Life 2 Source engine.
In the game, players will play as a fledgling vampire who will belong to one of seven vampire clans, each of which has its own distinctive strengths and abilities, including superhuman strength and speed, invisibility, and mind control, to name a few. As players progress through the game, they'll earn experience points that they can spend on improving their powers. These abilities and the game's major vampire factions will be drawn from White Wolf's Vampire: The Masquerade pen-and-paper game.Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines will ship next year.

New Tribes - Irrational Games
MGS NGC - Silicon Knights
And now this! And yet, the initially unexpected pairings all make so much sense once you think about it. Good times my friends, good times.

So Valve is in the Engine business now?
Awsome.
OMFG if they can pull this off, a FPS / RPG Vampire game based on the actual game. Sounds to good to actually work. Still I'm thinking positive, good thoughts =)

not too interested in the vampire setting, but as with their greyhawk game, the developer has me interested.

This could be the coolest game ever. Think Morrowind + Badass Vampire Combat + Badass Half-Life 2 engine.

With any luck, this will be a good game as well. We seem to be lacking in the "good story" games anymore. Not even anything decent from Bioware yet, hopefully one of their upcoming games will change this.

ok, now if they can really do it right -- and by right i mean live up to the pnp rpg of the same name -- this will be one of the coolest things of the whole fuckin year. also, greyhawk? damn, nobody even talks about that dnd setting anymore, now they're making a comp game out of it? this will be an interesting year indeed.
wow, this is certainly an interesting development.
