My jaw almost hit the floor when the first level loaded. It's not quite Doom3 or Half-Life 2, but the graphics are really, really well done. You will not believe this is the Quake 3 engine.
Second, the gameplay is much improved over the first Elite Force. The world actually feels alive, and the combat is intense. The very first action sequence reminded me of Halo. In fact, for a second, I thought I was playing Halo. And, as you know, that is a good thing.
The last single-player FPS I played was Return to Castle Wolfenstein. And from what little I've played of Elite Force 2, I can say that it blows RtCW away easily.
This game is polished, well-designed, beautiful, and balls-to-the-wall fun. I'm definately going to buy it when it comes out. Good job Ritual--you just refreshed the Sci-Fi FPS genre that Raven killed.

I'm assuming we'll find out later why they couldn't beam in via transporter ... dude had no trouble warping in weapons, etc.
<nitpick!><nitpick!> ^_^

Example, the blue pseudo-laser-gas-gun in this demo. The primary fire is straighforward. It shoots a blue beam of some sort, and it makes the enemies convulse and die. I can work with that. Secondary fire, however, makes some cloud of gas appear at your target, which seems to randomly decide to damage things walking in it with some graphical flare. Difficult to use, and the primary doesn't hit hard enough for me, so I just ignored it for the most part. It all came down to the energy 'shotgun'. It's familiar, and it kills everything just as well as the crazy stuff does.
In my future guns would just be more efficient on ammunition, with greater armor penetration and stopping power per round. Not to mention lighter and easier to maintain or repair.
Also, they have done well with the Quake 3 engine. The graphics are quite nice, textures are detailed, etc. Pretty fun, though the multiplayer will determine my purchase in the end.

What the hell is "ANSITROPIC filtering" ?? Anisotropic typo'd? Or is it something new that is l33t?
Also, the FULL screen toggle should be more intuitive, maybe with enabled or disabled next to it, since there's room for text there. I can see people running in windowed mode and not knowing why...

I always thought when they brought out the 'heavy weapons' that it was kinda cheesy. I mean they've got big ass starships that can shoot photon torpedoes and level entire cities but they still go into fights with puny lasers? That's not saying these games aren't great, just not my cup 'o tea.
