New AMD CPU Soon

24

According to this CNET story, AMD will be releasing their XP 3200+ CPU soon. Besides the CPU Mhz increase, the front side bus speed will go from 333mhz to 400mhz. Intel's already at a 800mhz FSB though, and it's expected they'll release a 3.2Ghz Pentium 4 soon.

    Correct me if I'm wrong, but intel's 800mhz FSB isn't a true 800mhz?

nor is AMD's 266 or 333 it is just DDR type tech for that matter.

That's what I was figuring. I just sorta thought that was part of the whole RDRAM benefit. Didnt realize it was available to DDR.

          Thanks.

The data signals run on the rising edge, falling edge, and both sides of the clock cycle, hence quad pumped.

So, for 800MHz fsb you have to use a Pentium4?
