More On UT2K4
by Maarten Goldstein, May 01, 2003 10:06am PDTPlanet Unreal has a news post with a few quotes from Epic's Steven Polge and Mark Rein. Looks like there will be an announcement about the next Unreal Tournament at E3, with Mark Rein saying "If there were going to be a UT2004 it would be fully backward compatible with 2003 so mod makers wouldn't have to worry about that. But that's all I can say for now :)".

Just curious: does this mean Epic's big mod contest will be for ut2k4?

What makes me mad is that I'm buying 12" trance singles and saying, "Why the hell couldn't they license THIS for UT2K3?!" Seriously, how much did it cost to license whoever it was to make the music, and how much would it cost to score a large-scale contract with a few labels out there like Hooj Choons, Platipus, Lost Language, and Distinct'ive Breaks?
Some specific examples I've picked up recently:
Goldenscan - Of Our Times (Original Mix)
label: Lost Language http://www.lostlanguage.com/ order page with samples: http://shop.hooj.com/index.cgi?task=sp&id=lost025
Beetseekers - Walk Of Notes (Original Mix)
label: JOOF http://www.joof.uk.com/ sample: http://www.joof.uk.com/realaudio/joof10.ram
