More On UT2K4

Why keep paying money for more of the same?

Too bad noone plays the current UT2003 online.. its mainly bots :(

There will be a UT2004. A few weeks ago I stumbled across some obscure 3d site's forum and discovered a post by someone contracted by Epic to make vehicle-based gameplay for it. Unfortunately, I have no idea where the site was, but it seemed really trustworthy, since it wasn't some anonymous tip sent in to the major gaming websites, just some "I've just wrapped up work on this" post..

Just curious: does this mean Epic's big mod contest will be for ut2k4?

One of the things that bugged me about UT2K3 is how they skimped out on the music. Sure, UT had S3M/IT format music which would be considered amateur when put up against pieces made by Cubase etc., but they were inspired songs that you could really identify with. The music in UT2K3 was mostly uninspired industrial crap, save a few choice tracks (Shack search would've helped to give examples here).

What makes me mad is that I'm buying 12" trance singles and saying, "Why the hell couldn't they license THIS for UT2K3?!" Seriously, how much did it cost to license whoever it was to make the music, and how much would it cost to score a large-scale contract with a few labels out there like Hooj Choons, Platipus, Lost Language, and Distinct'ive Breaks?

Did UT2K3 sell well enough to justify yet another sequel? How about some new, fresh and in your face?!

ut2k3's fun, and who gives a shit about names?

Even as an Unreal fanboy, I have to admit that Unreal 2 was a ding in the lineup, but I think UT2003 is really fun. I'll If there is such a thing as UT2004, and it's along the lines of a $20 expansion pack that has a bunch of the best user created maps (Deck 17!) and mods, even mutators for amusing gameplay, and a few professional maps, maybe double the map count, I'm there.

Please. New, fresh, and in-your-face FPS games don't sell. (Undying, etc.) Personally, I'd be down with an update to ut2k3. I happen to think it's a great game.

Oh plz don't name it ut2k4. People will hate it too.
