Medal of Honor Breakthrough Announced

As mentioned in a recent story about Medal of Honor: Pacific Assault, work was underway on a second expansion pack for Medal of Honor: Allied Assault. EA has now announced this expansion pack which will be called Breakthrough.

As U.S. Army Sergeant John Baker, players join the battle at Kasserine Pass in North Africa, race to capture Messina in Sicily, and finally repel the German army at the historic battle of Monte Battaglia in the heart of Italy. Armed with a new arsenal of weapons, players will fight alone and with squad mates as they rush to stop the Axis powers. The multiplayer game has been enhanced with the addition of Liberation Mode. In this mode, defeated players must be rescued by surviving teammates to continue the fight. In addition, players can drive tanks, artillery spotters can call in artillery strikes, and minesweepers can defuse mines. Players can also choose from American, British, Italian, and German skins in all multiplayer modes.

In development at a company called TKO Software, the new expansion pack is due out this fall.

I love this, after EA Announces that they have a brand new game in development, they come out and say that they are going to release a second expansion pack to Allied Assault, just the SECOND Expansion pack. Then here sits alot of people on here saying EA is "milking" the series. First of all STFU, and second realize that with this expansion comes another patch, an improvement on graphics + netcode (which is already awesome), and more of the intense single player that MOH is known for. NOW look at it in a marketing since, you have a triple A title, played hellaciously on-line, WHY NOT put out something else that the consumer base for this product will buy and make your company a few bucks while your at it?? Geeze, stfu about the "milking it" stuff plz kthxggbye.

Wow, I wonder if this will be as good as spearhead, we all know how fantastically produced that was.

Shovelware makes me a sad panda. :(

They really, really need to get someone with a cluepon working on the production of their titles. Spearhead was unforgiveably poor in many parts.

Some of those scripted sequences were just so tragically broken, and badly done even when they worked. I wonder how many other people have finished MOH:AA and MOH:Spearhead on difficult without cheating? I did, god knows why though.

And in answer to Firehorn, the MOH cash cow doesn't say anything, it gets its enterage to speak for it. When you've got that much money, who wouldn't.

Wow, I hope this expansion adds another excessively short single-player game and a huge arsenal of useless weapons. That would kick ass! Oh, oh and what if they changed the game in, like, this fundamental way that completely ruined it for all the hardcore fans? Wouldn't that kick ass? Oh and genre-inappropriate weapons! Yes! Bring on that jetpacking love! I can feel it already, EA never fails to disappoint.

That Liberation game type sounds like a nice throwback to Quake 1 Jailbreak. I wonder how well it will play in the wild, though. Will teams actually spend the time getting their mates back into play or will they just go Lone Ranger and try to win the round without the rest of the team?
