New on HomeLAN Fed today is this Homeworld 2 Q&A with Relic's Dan Irish. Questions are about the storyline, new and returning ships, user interface improvements, graphical features, the current state of the game and a few other things.

  • HomeLAN - What is the current status of the game's progress and when will it be released?

Dan Irish - There was a lot of R&D put into the Homeworld2 engine, and I’m sure you’ll see the fruits of that labor in the coming months. The story concept went through several iterations until we were sure that we had a concept that was both producible and compelling. We’re in the Alpha testing phase right now, so we’re optimizing the game and finalizing the look of everything. Homeworld2 will be ready for release in Q3 2003, and that’s about the closest that I can predict.

Hot diggity damn. Granted, this isn't set in stone, but the fact that it's almost ready for beta testing is great.
