- Planetside Trailer (one new one old) - Planetside BETA screenshots - Planetside screenshots (old) - Planetside BETA tester journalThere isnt an official release date for Planetside just yet, but almost certainly this year.

some site said SO!
It's a different engine. The old one had terrible netcode and FPS. So they switched to this newer one.
While this game won't have graphics on par with Doom III, it's not trying to.
Take a look at this picture and tell me you don't want to play the game:

I know that the lead developer is the same guy that did Tribes, but come on, where is the innovation? This looks like the same damn game I've played twice before!!

Ingame the worlds look really good, almost as good as Unreal2. I have a very steady frame rate, no problem there on a P4 2.4 Gf4 4400.
If this game wasnt a monthly fee i think it would really rock, but i think the monthly fee will kill it.
I might be willing to pay for it for a couple of months but unless there gonna offer some big updates to make it worth while pay monthly for a couple month should do me.
But in game it does look pretty and no slow down issue at all.
the appeal is the persistent online play, a mmorpg that actually has a skill aspect instead of just autoattack <go get lunch>
if you expected it to look like doom3 you're a moron

Planetside is persistent, unlike Tribes. It has certifications, requiring you to gain experience to use more stuff. You can hack buildings and vehicles. You can choose where to respawn in a giant world. Over 1000 people will be playing on a continent at the same time. On the whole, it just doesn't seem that similar to me.
