There are still so many issues to be resolved. Had they spent another 6 months tweaking everything, the game would most likely be leaps and bounds beyond where it is today and people wouldn't have nearly as much to complain about. Basic things like netcode and control shouldnt be issues in this day and age, and yet here we are in 2003 bitching at a dev that is rushing a product out the door amidst self-created hype just to make some fast cash, instead of making a great game.
After Unreal 2, people are definitely wary of this type of marketing and as the consumer becomes every more resourceful and knowledgeable, tactics like this will hopefully fall by the wayside.
Publishers, give dev's the time they need and your games can only benefit; rush them out the door only to patch later, and they will most likely never attain a high level of success.

but most of all, fraterate needs to be close to doubled and the netcode improved. the current stage of the demo both of these apsects are just not acceptable. granted its a demo and little billy likes to run a 16 player server on his mommies DSL, but there are servers out there with good admins that have them configured properly but still the netcode is laggy and there is a bit of teleportation which is not cool.
If you're DEMONSTRATION of the full version is a piece of shit, the game is undoubtedly a piece of SHIT. History holds to that.

movement seemed painfully slow, but that may be configurable per server (although with all the cs kids complaining about how ut2k3 was too fast to play, i don't have much hope of anybody running a more arcade style server).
the useable objects DEFINITELY need some way to tell how far you're going to throw them. I could never do more than drop anything.
but by far the most satisfying moment in the demo was when I was on the roof of some building and some guy was coming up the ladder, and I dropped an oil barrel on him and killed him. great potential there, if they'll patch in some much needed (interface/gameplay) polish (and as mentioned many times, some improved netcode)

And I really wanted the demo to "wow" me too. That just DID NOT happen--even POST patch. -sigh-

The netcode also seems to be teh poop. People just fly around and the netcode can't keep up with them when they change direction quickly (strafing back and forth quickly for instance).
I was also slightly disappointed with the performance (note I only played after installing the fix). I have a P4 1.8A and a 9500 Pro and it seemed a bit slow at 1024x768x32 with high detail. UT2003 looks better and runs (pulling number out of my ass) 40-50% faster.
The weapon buying system also seems clunky and not suited for the non-stop action.
