If you just cant get enough Battlefield 1942, it looks like there is another expansion pack in the works according to a recent Electronic Arts release schedule over in New Zealand. Battlefield 1942: Secret Weapons.

The latest New Zealand release schedule from Electronic Arts lists a new expansion pack for Battlefield 1942 due for release this September. The title of the pack is Battlefield 1942: Secret Weapons. Other than the name and that it will have an R.R.P of $49.95, there are no other details. We'll keep you updated.
Thanks Eric, Mike, Blues, and of course the originator of the story, Gameplanet. Oh, that $49.95 price translates to just under $30 US currency.

  • List of expansion packs stuff I won't buy, even though I like BF a lot and play it almost daily, mainly because they are similar to the current BF1942 set of maps/vehicles and don't add much:

    . BF1942: Road to Rome
    . BF1942: Secret Weapons

List of BF mods I'll surely play a lot, and I check daily their progress:

. Desert Combat (already worth two times the size of a "expansion pack" itself to EA/DICE standards, sans maps that are still being developed thanks to their inability to release a map editor). Set in the Gulf War/modern world.
. SW Battlefield (Galactic Conquest). Set on the Star Wars world. AT-AT woohoo
. Empires MOD, even though it looks like CC Renegade (no ofense, I loved CC Renegade despite its problems). Set in a fictious future
    . Eve of Destruction. Vietnam-based.
. The Wastelands mod. Too bad it looks like it doesn't have much future, not many updates... it would be nice. Mad max-based, even though it looks like they wouldn't admit it verbally.
. Pimp wars. Who knows, it might be fun, if it's like the gang-wars (or something) which was made for HL, with the leader stuff.
. Eternal Silence. Original "space future sci-fi" mod, might be cool, they're doing well, developing lotsa stuff.
. That one that is starcraft-based, it's "Space Combat" or some stupid name like that which was created to use the same "SC" acronym. It's evolving nicely though, nice models.

Lots of different gameplay, and these are only the ones *I* am expecting the most. There's lots of other stuff going on at the moment, like the GI Joe and CE mods. And considering there's no SDK software available for modders (other than software created by themselves), it's a pretty impressive feat. With the release of battlecraft (finally, bf1942 map editor) on some weeks/months, I expect to be real nice maps, RtR-quality, and not the crap/hacked stuff that's been released today by heroes who edit maps in notepad.
