Evening Reading
by Steve Gibson, Mar 21, 2003 5:00pm PSTWell I've finally found my way back home after wandering the country for a little while. The cats are going just bonkers finally having some company for longer than a few minutes.. I'm also pretty sure now that I'm gonna sell off everything I own so I can get one of those Apple 23" LCD screens. It's just too darn glorious. I so so hate Jack. Ok look:

Question for the hardware shackers:
Is it odd that I would go from a KT333 board with a 2100+ to an Nforce2 board with a 2400+ and get no gains in 3DMark 2001SE, and sometimes a lower score? Is it all based on your video card? (ATI 9500Pro)

Moves: I'd say about 75% on the spot. Almost always perfect advice once you get genre specific. If you don't like Donnie Darko, you're fundamentally broken.
Books: Better than movies. I'm impressed with your reading choices.
Games: Perfect, as long as the game is over 1 year old. I don't trust you asshats with anything even somewhat new because of the hype/novelty. I'm the same way to be honest. I suppose it's because there are too many games out there that are really fun... for a short while. *COUGH* BLACK AND WHITE. SIM CITY 4. *COUGH*

use intellipoint 4.1 drivers instead of logitechs crap mouseware 9.75- you have to plug into the PS2 port, but it detects it as a Intellimouse Explorer 3.0, all the buttons work except the applicatoin switcher button (which is useless) and the sensitivity is better in all games and now i dont want to throw this mouse out the window.
Logitech's drivers are junk.

When I bookmark a website, if they have their own little icon IE stores that for the link, instead of the blank page with the "e" on it. So for example, Anandtech has a little white square with an A as the icon for the link in my bookmarks. But eventually, IE overrides those with the generic Explorer icon.
Not sure how much sense that made, as I'm half asleep right now. :)

So we're going to poke fun at the vide game violence debate that has been raging during the last year. So we're going to manufacture Tetris-costumes and have a wrestling ring on the truck and we fight each other on there.
Sorta plays a bit withthe concept of "computer games violence". The idea is that humans don't get violent from games, games get violent from humans.
Anyway. What's a good way to build these costumes? We're currently thinking about cutting out square part of matresses and dressing them in cloth and then stitching these together to form the various shapes. So each part of the matress is one side of these cubes.
The reason for why we think this would be a good idea is that it's flexible and pretty damn durable.
Papier mache and other inflexible materials won't cut it because we're supposed to wrestle.
Now the problem is that we're gonna need something like 20-30 matresses to build 8 tetris pieces (which is the number we're shooting for).
So do you have any ideas?
Also a good slogan for this would be aprechiated.
As well as any side projects, one we have thought about it building a huge gameboy or something like that.
