They managed to do something incredible with this RF2 though, guys. The sequel is uglier than the original. I chalk that up to it being released on console first (which always makes a game suck compared to PC)

Yeah the first RF proved that destructable walls and terrain don't really add much to a game.

It seemed gimicy to me. It was cool, it performed well, it worked as advertised, but in the end it didn't really seem to make the game cool. It was a mediocre game with or without it.

I will not buy this game on the sole principle that the first one didn't support any MS OS > Win98 and they did nothing to remedy it, although tons of people using Win2k bought it and experienced lockups every 5 minutes. Their response was, "Red Faction does not support Windows 2000. Thank you."

Plus it doesn't look all that amazing anyway.

Red Faction had the single worst ending I've ever seen for a game. You fight an epic, uphill battle to the boss, who is a pain in the ass to beat. Expecting to win after the boss battle, you approach the leader of the resistence who then introduces you to a fucking timed puzzle. A puzzle. If you have the patience to do it, and you're not kicking your box in disgust, you get rewarded with a screen of text. I've never been more pissed at a game designer in my life...
