Animatrix Episode 2

I know this has been said before, and will be said again, but I felt it needed to be on the first comments page.

Animatrix is a COMPILATION of various UNRELATED stories done by SEVERAL different artists and creative teams, so no two episodes are going to have anything in common, except that they're both spin offs of the Matrix movies.

Anyway, hopefully, we'll not see any more comments about how one episode is different from the next in style, story, etc. (big wish, I know)

i could hardly believe it was supposed to be in the same series. I thought the first one was laughable with the cartoonish looking robots crying oil from their big sad eyes, dressed up like Mr. Strong characters. Also the robots have very intense emotions for computers, all the screaming and carrying on while they 'raped' the robot prostitute (wouldn't that be a thrill, having sex with the terminator) The whole thing just smacked of anime idiocy (plot holes, ridiculous overly graphic death scenes) that it made me laugh more than it made me care. The second one was just pop anime with tripe cliches... Overall it sucks only slightly less than Ninjai.

Anyone noticed the part where she jumps on the sword, JUST LIKE IN THE KILL BILL TRAILER... except it didn't look fake.

i cant help but think how cool a videogame that would make. and i dont mean Enter the Matrix, i mean a virtual immersive environment like the one they're fighting in.

give Virtual Reality another 20 years :P

Second episode doesn't seem to follow the first episode in any respect. Just saw the first episode and have to say I enjoyed it far more than second. Unfortunately, I downloaded episode two first and watched that and then episode 1 so now I'm a tad confused. I didn't at all like the huge change in graphic style from E1 to E2 either. E2 has it moments I suppose but overall appeared hastily composed in comparison to E1, which had far better storyline and graphical animation. Sure hope E3 gets back on track. I'd never heard of this developing series but it from E1 it sure has a lot of potential. Too bad E2 doesn't live up to the promise, though as a single episode in isolation from E1, it displayed imaginative graphics, but nothing really, really special.

Gosh. Now I've said too much. And here I was just trying to say E1>E2.

I have Quicktime 5.0.2, and yet I hear no audio in this. I hear audio perfectly in all other .mov's, including the first Animatrix video. I HATE YOU APPLE.

I like this a lot and I want more.

That said I really liked the first one better. The first episode had a much wider scope and meaning. I really felt like it evoked an emotional response, a sense of sadness for the machines and dissapointment that hatred is truly a quality humans wil never lose.

This one had its own unique visual style. Very anime but not so "Sailor Moon" ish. Though her hair was a bit rediculous. It just didnt stir up anywhere near the same emotion that Ep1 did. It was just somewhat lacking in meaning.

And "the Flight of Osiris" being shown with Dreamctacher basically means I'm gonna go see Dreamcatcher now. Who knows, maybe its a decent movie.

Call me crazy, but i liked the 2nd one wayyyy better than the first.

Tho i thought the first episode was good animation wise, that plot had more holes in it than i thought would be possible. The writers obvouisly had no idea what the relationship is between society and technology. They should go look at Ghost in the Shell or read about the Turing Test before writing about AI. :(

This was more simple, but i really enjoyed the art style and it was something i could get behind, plot wise.

Total letdown compared to the first. Instead of visionary design and and gripping storytelling, we get ten minutes of anime cliches set in the matrix universe. Here's hoping square doesn't fuck it up with more of this banality (the FF movie doesn't have me hopeful).

The first was better. The first was fucking awesome. Tough to beat.

I loved it. This is top notch anime.

First one was better. This one started off pretty well but god boring and predictable by the end. Also, what was the point of this episode? The first episode showed some of the history leading up to the Matrix. Was this episode there to show a new testing procedure to make sure that new recruits don't betray humanity because of what Cipher did?
