The winners weren't bad games. In fact, GTA III (at least in its original console form) was fantastic. But the proof's in the pudding. I'm not playing any of these games any more and haven't for a long time. Like most modern "product," their lifespan is the first week or so. Bottom line: we've come a long way since the early 90s in this industry; a long way toward disposability. Doom 3 is kind of a last gasp of interest where I'm concerned. It's also just possible, but given the cost of production now, pretty unlikely, that someone's going to come out of left field and make a really great game -- bust open a new genre or really reinvent the already very tired ones. For the foreseeable future, though, the industry looks about as lively as sewage.

I/m trying to figure out why a buggy piece of shit from EA (Battlefield 1942) can pull all these awards...... I've played the demo had some interesting stuff but when I'm three feet away from a guy on broadband and can't fuckin' shoot him. Yea right going back to q3 and ut2003. I prefer to play shit I can enjoy and not get frustrated by.
