The models "pop" all over the place, and are pushed around without their feet moving... the animation just doesn't look fluid at all.
The moves look totally tight, but they just need to be polished.
Earthworm Jim was fabulous (the animation in that game is a marvel even today), and MDK was a solid shooter with a good sense of humor (quite rare these days, perhaps why so many find the NOLF games refreshing). Wild 9, Sacrifice, and Messiah all had at least remotely interesting ideas. If Shiny were to streamline the control scheme and make another Messiah game, I'm sure it could be a lot of fun.
Regardless, I'm remaining optimistic because:
1) Maybe these screenshots are from the PS2 version of the game. Shiny already said they're creating high quality art assets and then scaling them back for each platform. I expect the most from the PC and XBOX versions.
2) The three different gametypes harken back to Shiny's multi-genre plays (Earthworm Jim), and maybe the gameplay will be great!
