BF1942 Road to Rome Day
by Steve Gibson, Feb 05, 2003 8:36am PSTBattlefield 1942 Road to Rome is now trickling onto shelves today according to those hip kids in the know. Here's the press release saying as much. The expansion pack went gold on January 22nd and the v1.3 patch for BF1942 came out just a couple days ago.
The Road to Rome will focus exclusively on the key, yet largely underpublicized Italian and Sicilian campaigns of WWII. Players can choose to fight on six new maps including Operation Husky (Sicily), Operation Baytown and the battles for Anzio, Salerno, Santo Croce and Monte Cassino. Each map comes with highly detailed environments such as Italian houses, Mediterranean trees and even the ruined Monte Cassino Monastery. Controllable vehicles are the heart of the Battlefield 1942 experience and The Road to Rome will feature eight new vehicles in addition to the more than 30 in the original title.

So Road to Rome is out for BF1942 and the maps are pretty leet, but then theres Desert Combat and its leet Apache and Hummers, but then theres reg BF1942 and poor people who can't afford Road to Rome. Such a predicament... So what would everyone like to see run on the BF1942 server? Personally, I really like the Road to Rome maps and the new stuff added. Its all top knotch stuff and well worth the $20 bucks, but I also love DC... What do you guys think? Vote on the following poll and let me know.

Very similar to the 1.3 patch workaround but here's the gist:
Make changes to the Road to Rome init.com file (found in BF1942/mods/Xpack1 ) and get it to look like this :

If you guys were to stop loading up your systems with hacks, tweaks, reg hacks, untilities, OC'in, DC'in, BC'in, via chipsets, virus checkers, etc.. and/or knew how to keep your system up-to-date, that games would run properly..
By the way, I said 50%, not 100%, so don't get all nutty on my case..

Say we both buy 2 copies of RtR do you think we could both log into servers even tough we have the same key for BF.
It's not that I wanna fuck the system but my roomate has just only enough money to buy RtR and I'm getting tired of playing against bots with him :(

Got it yesterday and have played it quite a bit so far, both online and in single player. Teher are some new vehicles, a couple of new voice packs, and six new maps. The big thing is really the new maps, they are of exellent quality troughout. The only level in BF1942 that came close was Battle of the Bulge.
I bought it for 24 euro's and 95 cents. IMHO it isnt worth much more then that cause of the limited content.
