As I make my way through Metroid Fusion, I'm extremely impressed by how closely it resembles the Metroid games that came before it, as well as Metroid Prime. The two games are obviously very different visually, but their core gameplay is remarkably similar. I don't think that's necessarily a bad thing, but it is a little strange to be playing both at the same time (well not literally at the same time -- you know what I mean). At the moment I'm preferring Fusion, although this can pretty much change on a day-by-day basis. Either way, I'm enjoying them both, which is a lot more Metroid than I've had in a long time (if ever).

GameCube Metroid Prime 2 "Confirmed" While this hardly counts as an official announcement, Nintendo has added a page on their site for the sequel to Metroid Prime, which if this page is to be believed will carry the awkward title of Metroid Prime 2. Nothing else has been released, and this game has not been formally announced yet.
PSOne Final Fantasy Origins Impressions Following up on their previous article looking at the remake of Final Fantasy I, GameForms has posted the second half of their Final Fantasy Origins preview, looking at Final Fantasy II. Accompanying this is a slew of new media from the game.

EverQuest Online Adventures Party If you're in the San Francisco area and want to party on Sony's buck, head over to their Metreon building on Friday for a special launch party for the game. Attendees will be able to play the game, and possibly walk away with a free copy or free subscription as well. We have a Sony building here in NYC, but it's less cool and a whole lot nerdier.
PS2 Xbox Ecks vs. Sever Canned IGN has confirmed what we've all already assumed for some time now: Ecks vs. Sever, the PS2 and Xbox FPS from Zombie Studios has been canceled.
GameCube Ikaruga Movies IGN has posted some new gameplay movies showing off the GameCube port of Ikaruga, Treasure's triumphant return to the world of 'shmups.
PS2 FFX-2 Shots Just when you thought Final Fantasy X-2 couldn't get any weirder, comes these new shots at The Magic Box, which show what appears to be some kind of action-packed karaoke.
GameBoy Advance A Third Person (3D) GBA Game? I wouldn't have thought it possible, but Computer and Video Games has posted the first shots from Radium, an upcoming third person, 3D action game for the Game Boy Advance.
GameBoy Advance Mega Man & Bass on GBA Capcom has announced plans to release Mega Man & Bass, previously a SNES title, for the GBA in March. The first details and screenshots are up at GameSpot.
GameCube PS2 Xbox GameBoy Advance Misc. Media New shots from Zone of the Enders 2 are up at The Magic Box, while GameSpot has a new movie from Jet Grind Radio (GBA) and IGN has some character artwork from Soul Calibur 2. Also, the official Rayman 3 site has been updated with a new trailer from the game.
Console Game of the Evening: Space Harrier for the Sega Genesis 32X. Call me cynical, but I really didn't think this was that big a step up from the Master System version of the original (not to mention Space Harrier II for the Genesis proper).
