Unreal 2 Demo Possible?

I've already played enough of the game (at Winter CPL) to know I want to get it. The problem is, as far as I'm concerned, they're only shipping half a game. No MP. I know, they're complaining about the fact that it adds so much to the development cycle, but i say "Waah" The problem with PC FPS's is that single player is always incredibly short, 10 hours or less. I've been playing Metroid Prime on the gamecube (granted, no MP) but I've already put in over 20 hours and I'm only 60% complete according to the little statistic in front of my save game.

With games like STALKER and Devastation coming out that have full, story based SP as well as a full MP game, I just don't think that Legend can justify $50 for a game that contains half as much content as titles that it will be competing with. (Not competing directly meaning that they're coming out at the same time, but competing for my $$)

Demo or not, I've pretty much decided that I'll wait till the game is in the $25 and under bin before I pick it up, which seems fair since it's really only half a game.

Did anyone watch the latest IGN video from Unreal 2?

The more and more I see intense action sequences from this game, the more it reminds me of "KISS Psycho Circus: Nightmare Child" (and not necessarily in a good way).

I especially like the part 0:48 secs into the video when a computer teammate gets caught up on a hill (steeper gradient) and just twitches uncontrollably in one spot.

The squeeky wheel gets the grease.

I'm gonna buy this game no matter what. I hate it so much, yet i'm strangly attracted to it.

Personally, I'm not buying unless I can play a demo.

Hopefully they'll make a demo so that I can 'demo' it legally. :)~

Well,a demo would be nice. But if it's not on xbox,I doubt I'll be buying it. of course it will be on xbox

i'd just like to state that if this game is close to being as long as the unreal, i think it will be enough play time to justify the price. Unreal went on FOREVER..much longer than any game i have played since, including Half-Life (which was a decent length imo).

How could they NOT release a demo for this game? Its been in development so long, and to a certain degree some gamers including myself have been looking forward to it for awhile now. Even if they don't release a demo Im sure many would purchase it, and return it if it sucked. If everyone could buy from Costco they'd have no problems returning, they take back anything no questions asked, opened or not. So basically you could demo the game with the full version and just return it if you didnt like it.

I just wish they would stop the soap opera and either release a demo or not release one. This is the reminiscent of the same syndrome that the first Unreal suffered from. Though that case was with a promised demo that never seemed to show up.

Ayep. I think the game looks good, from the screenies, but after my experience with Anarchy Online, I will never again buy a retail game without the chance to demo it first.

The way I look at it -- if Legend doesn't wanna spend the effort to let me sample their wares, that's their right. But they'd better hope a friend of mine has already made the plunge, so I can test their copy -- otherwise, I'm not dropping the $50 for the game, plain and simple.

I don't think my mind has changed any, but if they release one that will have definately raised my opinion of the project, even if the game sucks.

Fine. Then I take back what I said earlier if there will be a demo for the game. A demo will prove if the graphics really are consistent or not(i.e. rock textures @ high rez & ground textures @ low rez issue) to really see if they put real effort in the game. Screenshots do look iffy but I think the demo will help out a lot.
