a bit yeah. it'll take a generation of games to get a handle on really using and not overusing this stuff to its best purpose, just like back then...

i never got peoples whine with q2 and coloured lightning. on some levels it was done really artistically, like one which was converted to a CTF map, don't remember name. but all along the water it was some sweet cyan lightning around. i remember a lot of other maps as well which used it nicely.

no I never thought the Id Q2 maps used it too much, but it commonly became a thing for other mappers to go nutzo with.

I hope they go easy on'em. These shots look great, but I can see them getting outta hand if they don't watch it.
