Road to Rome GONE GOLD
by Maarten Goldstein, Jan 22, 2003 7:58am PSTEA sends along word that the first Battlefield 1942 expansion pack Road to Rome has gone gold! It will start shipping February 4 in North America.
The Road to Rome will focus exclusively on the key, yet largely underpublicized Italian and Sicilian campaigns of WWII. Players can choose to fight on six new maps including Operation Husky (Sicily), Operation Baytown and the battles for Anzio, Salerno, Santo Croce and Monte Cassino. Each map comes with highly detailed environments such as Italian houses, Mediterranean trees and even the ruined Monte Cassino Monastery. Controllable vehicles are the heart of the Battlefield 1942 experience and The Road to Rome will feature eight new vehicles in addition to the more than 30 in the original title. These include the German BF-110 and British Mosquito twin-engined fighter-bombers. Also debuting are Italian and new British and German tanks and anti-tank guns. The original Battlefield 1942 PC game will be required to play The Road to Rome.In related news, EA's official Battlefield 1942 site has been updated with a new community update, which besides mentioning the new features in Road Rome, also has news about the upcoming Battlefield 1942 1.3 patch.

Tried just about everything. All drivers current, fresh OS install etc. I'm not the only one with problems either... Some other people were talking about it on another forum. lemme see if i can dig up a link.

They should
(1) Make tanks & halftracks immune to grenades
(2) Lessen damage taken from driving over rough terrain
(3) Make MG position on tanks independtent of the main turret with more cover

How about a "the airplane hanger doesn't heal enemy tanks" patch too, that's kind of an annoyance even though some consider it a tactic.
Though for me, the biggest thing would be "mouselook while flying doesn't freeze plane control". I want to be able to look left, right, & up *WHILE* manouvering. That would make the dogfights on a par with warbirds etc.

checking those for 15 seconds every time you load a new map is RIDICULOUS.

Also, here's some other people with the same problem. I had previously fixed this before 1.2, but nothing I do post-1.2 works.

buncha cheap bastards out there...
I wanna see the scoring improved. Points for taking down a plane, boat, or vehicle, not just the person/s inside. That way, there is more incentive for the non-team oriented player to play defense, or navy. Plus you get rewarded for destroying the other team's fleet, not just killing it's players.

I'm guessing Ashkie will have to think about upgrading his server for this... :D

""And now for the big news... Everyone on the Battlefield team at DICE and EA has been working late nights on another surprise for the community. We’d like to take this time to announce the Battlefield 1942 1.3 patch – it’s coming soon, maybe even sooner than you think! Look for more details about the patch soon, for now here’s a sneak peek: Implemented TK solution: On the server-side you can implement various TK-solutions such as a Spawn Delay penalty (puts them into spawn limbo) or the simple Kick/Ban. On the client-side you'll be able to Forgive or Punish TK depending on how the server is set up. Client performance optimization Map-loading optimized Improved interface for in-game voting In addition, the 1.3 patch will allow Road to Rome users to play on original BF1942 servers. You will still need to own RtR in order to play on the new maps included in the expansion pack."
