Evening Reading
by Steve Gibson, Jan 16, 2003 5:00pm PSTYeah, dunno what to say about that whole Steam2/CS1.6 deal today, I'm pretty sure it didnt go quite as planned there. Once we hear from Valve what the next step will be we'll of course post that here. In the mean time, why not drown your sorrows in some dumb stories?
- Hackers are cool - Alert for smelly fruit - Microsoft must ship Java in 120 days - Ok, this whole piercing thing is just gross - Your evening dinosaur storyLastly, apparently being smart and being in college dont exactly go hand in hand.

Near the end of the CIA mission when you had to go into the room with two guys and use the computer and they didn't notice. That would be like someone coming into my office without me noticing.
Say You playing a western game, you walk into a saloon and a gun fight breaks out. You jump in to try and help the guy, soon you are fighting back to back with this rouge hero. THAT would be sweet. If he acted completly idependent from your actions. Sweet as hell....meh..i proably just need to have some hot choclate :|

Fox says there is a gap between reviewers and the masses that watch movies. Maybe, but thats not the problem. The problem is award shows like the Oscars are just big jerk off sessions for these hollywood types, and no real people except house fraus give a flying fuck.

RMA mobo from NewEgg was piced up at noon yesterday in California, made a stop in Tenessee, was dropped off in Joplin, Missouri and is on a truck to be delivered.
And this is the super saver shipping... no overnight or anything.
Only problem with the whole situation is that the board was shipped to me dead the first time. That part sucks. But at least FedEx is doing their part.

Do you think we'll ever move out of this era where all our computer components require massive heatsinks and cooling components just so they won't catch fire and/or melt through the floor? For a long time, computers had no need for any such devices (barring a fan on the PS), and I realize that's because they had a low transistor count, and they weren't very speedy. But do you think a new paradigm might come along where we find more efficient ways to deal with all this energy? I think there must be, because as chips and video cards get faster, cooling solutions get more massive and complicated, and I think there must be a breaking point where we find a better way, or we'll end up with mainframes the size of rooms again.
Just a thought.

So I just got back from a run. It's 2:30 AM here, a great time to run because there's just no one around. I feel so totally alone, so much so that it's like I own the world. I'm running down the middle of what is usually a busy, but is now deserted, suburban road and what do I do when I get this feeling of owning the world? I stop right there on the white line and take a leak.
That's right kids, I'm no longer a member of the "tomorrow's leader" generation. I'm a leader today.
