So I'm sitting on the train this evening, and all of a sudden this guy gets on and sits across from me, and I swear to god, this guy had done his hair exactly like Akira from Virtua Fighter. I'm trying not to stare, but seriously, this guy was a spitting image for that vertically follicled fighter, complete with a thick white headband and white wristbands, and I had to really try my hardest just to keep myself from laughing out loud. I really wish I had my digital camera on me...it was quite a sight. Ah, well. Anyway, my Xbox Live article ran this afternoon, so hopefully you've all had a chance to check it out.

Xbox Panzer Dragoon Orta: It Doesn't Suck The reviews are in, and both GameSpot and IGN say Panzer Dragoon Orta is great stuff indeed. IGN's review, where they gave the game a 9.2 is now free for all, while GameSpot's has gone live, and gives the game an outstanding 9.0. For a nice counter-point, check out GameSpot's review of Nightcaster II, which gives the game an abysmal 1.9, the lowest score I can recall them giving any game in recent memory (even Sniper broke 2!)
PS2 GameBoy Advance New Castlevania Games to be Announced Soon? Unconfirmed reports on Games Are Fun are suggesting that this week will see two new Castlevania games announced from Konami, one for GBA (rumored to be called Aria of Sorrow) and one for PS2. Their sources on this are a bit suspect, so don't get too excited yet.
GameCube PS2 GameBoy Advance Square/Enix Terms Changed To appease that majority shareholder who wasn't thrilled with the stock exchange for the upcoming Square/Enix merger, the companies have changed the terms of the deal, bumping the price to 85% for each Enix share for each of Square's, up from 81%. The vote hasn't gone through yet, but it's certainly looking more certain after some questions were raised last week.
PS2 Hunter Heading to PS2 Interplay (yes, they're still around) has announced plans to release Hunter: The Reckoning Wayward, an enhanced PS2 port of the original GameCube and Xbox title released last year. Look for it this summer.
GameCube Xbox Red Faction II Ports Announced Speaking of enhanced ports, THQ has announced that they're doing the opposite of Interplay, and are porting their PS2 title Red Faction II to GameCube and Xbox (and PC). Along with the announcement, GameSpot has posted one shot each from the GameCube, Xbox and PC versions.
GameCube PS2 Xbox Mortal Kombat Kills at Retail Congrats to Midway, whose Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance has broken the one million mark at retail across the big three platforms. No details on the platform split are available (although I must admit I am curious).
GameCube PS2 Xbox Ubi Soft Gets Nightmare Creatures Ubi Soft announced today that they have acquired the rights to Nightmare Creatures, including the work that was done on the third installment in the series by developer Kalisto Entertainment. More details should be available soon.
GameCube PS2 Xbox Driver 3: Vice City? New details have been released from Driver 3, and it sounds like they've been looking to Grand Theft Auto for inspiration. Can you blame them?
Xbox Unreal Championship Patch Coming Soon Digital Extremes has announced plans to release an update to Unreal Championship which will be available through Xbox Live (and more than likely included with the Official Xbox Magazine as well). The patch will add team balancing, improved stat collection and real-time voice control among other things.
PS2 Devil May Cry 2 Preview A new hands-on preview of Devil May Cry 2 is up at IGN tonight, featuring their impressions of the game, along with new gameplay movies.
GameCube RTX Red Rock Interview LucasArts fan page The International House of Mojo has conducted an interview with Reeve Thompson, the producer of the upcoming GameCube title RTX Red Rock. On a related note, new shots from the game are up at IGN.
GameCube PS2 Xbox Misc. Media Cube.IGN has posted new shots from Resident Evil 4, while PS2.IGN has a new trailer from Arc the Lad: Twilight of the Spirits and GameSpot has new shots from Dungeons & Dragons Heroes.
Console Game of the Evening: Virtua Fighter 3: TB for the Sega Dreamcast. This game had the unfortunate luck of being released side-by-side with Soul Calibur, so most (including me) passed it over despite its noble heritage. About a year later I went back to pick this up, and discovered that it's a solid, fun fighting game, but let's face it: it ain't no Soul Calibur.

  • well, i never was a fan of virtual fighter. As a matter of fact i flat out hated it. It didn't bring me any sence of enjoyment and i really wanted to like virtual fighter3. now, i bought VF4 on ps2 because i was bored and it was 20bux so i didnt have much to lose. now did they totally redid the series or what?? VF4 is tolerable! i actually enjoyed it better than tekken! oh well thats my rant.
btw Mortal kombat deadly alligiance is indeed a good fighter. me and a group of fighting game fans seemed to have adopted MK as our new fighting game (doa3 didnt last long w/its ghey counters)
