Followup to ROSEWOOD's CORAL SEA POST

I was with Rosewood when we first attempted such strategy, and then went back and the teams were again both idling, no one really winning. I finally convinced some guys to meet up with me at the NW corner of the map, and as soon as we got 4 airplanes we all charged the carrier, and we had at least one other airplane on its way that would meet with us. So that is 5 bombers... The ships sank almost inmediately.

I can not stress this much, you must do this to win. We won 5 times in a row and the other team didn't know how to react. We only lost because the carriers move a little with each boming and ours moved away from the flag, which they capped.

So, summary:

1. Get at least 3 bombers in a corner of the map, preferably 5 or more. Make it like 90% of your team should get a bomber, the rest stay on the AA guns on your ship.
The signal for this is F2 > F2, "Requesting reinforcements"

2. Bomb the land defgun and AA's on the nearest island on the way to the meeting place, ONLY if you happen to go over them. If not, ignore them, just haul ass to the meeting spot.

3. Don't stay in only one square, you may crash. Instead pick a corner and hover around in circles, watching out for your teammates.

4. As soon as the last plane in your group is midway through the map, hit F4 > F4 to signal your squad to ATTACK. Then you should all go toward the carrier.

5. Keep note of the way the carrier is aligned, you should approach the carrier in a manner that you will cover it's whole area - in other words, cross it lengthwise. This way, you can drop two bombs at the tip of the ship, and the next two bombs shall be ready when you are halfway over the ship, so drop them. You will always be able to drop four bombs on the carrier on each pass this way. If you are lucky, you can get two more.

6. KEEP GOING STRAIGHT. If you veer off too soon, the AA guns will be able to target you. Get a little far from the carrier, and do a big U turn, or if you want to stay close, do an LOOP THE LOOP but beware of planes. The point is to be able to cross the carrier lengthwise while avoiding AA.

7. If you die, CHECK YOUR MAP. If there are still at least two of your planes still attacking the enemy carrier, then you should go over and help them. If there are no teammates attacking, then you will have to go back to 1. You just can't go in alone, you can be picked off too easily, but if there are still friends there you have to go and help them so that the enemy does not get a chance to repair the ship.

8. If you have at least 5 planes attacking, then it is a good idea for someone to go and get on the defguns and hit their ship. If you got any less, don't use defguns, the bomber will be better as you need lots of planes for this to work.

9. ENGINEERS ONLY. No need for any other class. If you are being attacked, remember to repair your carrier as much as possible, then leave on your bomber toward the meeting spot as soon as your wrench is used up. This way your carrier won't sink and you can keep on attacking.

10. If you get hit a lot, it doesn't matter that you have been able to keep your ship at 100%. You must check the flag and see if the ship has moved over. If it has, SOMEONE has to stay behind and watch for enemy troops parachuting to the flagbuoy and dispose of them.

11. AA guns can't fire lower than their horizon. FLY LOW. Don't fly straight at an AA gun, you will be taken down. But, you can fire at them while you are bombing the carrier and hit them with your primary gun.

12. If you are being spawn camped, just change spawns. Don't keep spawning on the airplanes and getting killed.

13. If you board their ship or eject over it, start dropping mines on their runway. They usually dont check for them and a couple of planes get blown up when taking off.

14. AS SOON as the alarm on the enemy carrier begins sounding, everyone go into full on attack until the carrier starts to really sink. Then wait 10 seconds for it to completely sink THEN, come back and fire and bomb the buoy to get rid of any enemies left. Then you can fly through the buoy, which is harder, or just eject and float toward the flag. Don't eject until no enemies remain or you will just float there looking at them without being able to cap it.

Having a bad cold forcing you to stay inside is bad, but whats worse is knowing there is a medicine that could help easen up things, but it's not legal in Sweden. You yanks get all the powerful stuff.

So how's the christmas shopping going everyone? I'm giving a jpop cd to my brothers girlfriend, I'll probably get shampoo back or something but atleast I know she'll be forced to listen to it! Pretty sure she'll like... although dad thought the cd was painful to listen to. He only listens to Shakira anyways.

Shack HELP Time.. Ok heres the deal.... im running a network work cable from my cable modem in the basement to the router in my room, which is a straight through cable right???? then from the router im running cable to wall outlets for someone to plug into which those should be crossovers??? then regular straight through from the wall outlet to the computer????

ahha here is an interesting question.... If I were to setup a shoutcast server on my own intranet, that is only accessible via VPN connections. It would run my various selections of songs, and pretty much its only for me, or maybe family member (but only a few people, count on 1 hand, have access anyways).

Now here's the catch, at my work I have the capability to get a VPN connection going to home, so I could tune into the shoutcast stream. Is there some liability issue here? I'm thinking no, because I'm playing my own collection of songs for myself, not my co-workers and not my friends really. So there shouldn't be any problems with licensing or any danger to my company as its my systems that are running it and not theirs. Help?

Oh there was one good thing that happened to me this week... I got a brand new SMC Barricade 7004ABR for free :D. So it ain't a free cordless keyboard and mouse (which I still am pissed over... fucking boss&work) but its better than a kick in the groin.

I'm looking to pick up on some C++ between semesters (I'll need to use it for Algorithms next semester). I've used Java and a little bit of C in the past, and I'm looking for a book that will help me learn C++, without all the standard 100 pg. hello world examples. Stick with O'Reilly? other suggestions?

Oh my god, the helicopter in DesertCombat is freakin amazing!

Too bad it only works in singleplayer, but having just played an hour or so with 38 bots, I must say I'm extremely impressed by how well they do in Desert Combat. They fly, drive the new tanks and vehicles, use the new weapons very well -- and as always, they still make for excellent frag bait: http://timm.mine.nu/bf_helicopter.jpg

That shot probably has the worst showing of the AI ever, but damn it was fun taking down EVERY SINGLE ONE of those bots with the helicopter. I had also gunned down 6-7 bots just before I came over the hill and saw those in the screenshot.

Btw, {Venger} or anyone else with a decent server setup.. care to set up a server for the shackers (on El Alamein -- Battleaxe doesn't play well with the new planes)?
