First Post!

Looks like we're gonna have a really quiet December month. During previous years there were a few games launching in December but now the publishers kicked out all the games in November, or so it seems at least. At least we should get that Splinter Cell PC demo some time this month for some entertainment. Happy birthday to my mom! She might not read the page like Steve's mom, but she's still pretty cool. Movie: If it bleeds, we can kill it

  • The recent release of the Neverwinter Nights demo got me thinking a bit.

Remember before the game was released and everyone was so hyped for it? It was supposed to have the great single player of Baldur's Gate combined with the multiplayer to make it the end all be all of crpg's. There was even some talk by Sander of possibly setting up a snwnsod where we could all "hang out".

    And then, it was released...

It took me a few weeks to accept the fact that, yes, Bioware could make an average game.

But yesterday I decided to give it another spin and installed a user made module that had custom music, sounds, and even voice acting. It turned out to be great, much better then the "epic" campaign Bioware had made.

So, I've started to think that maybe the community can pick up the slack in this case and actually produce modules of quality.

Where am I going with this? I'm thinking now of starting up my nwn module that I was working on before (which I was about 3/4's of the way done) and turning it into something that can run 24/7 as a shack server.

So, I'm curious, what would you guys like to see for this? Just big open areas where you can get together and kill stuff? A linear story that will reload every time the server is empty? Some sort of combination of the two? Something else?

I'll be done this semester on Tuesday and have about a month off, so I should be able to make something pretty good in that time.

sorry if this post is HUGE
