The guys at Freeform Interactive send word that people can now sign up for the next Purge beta. Everyone will be accepted, though you'll still be bound by an NDA. Purge is an online shooter/RPG using the Lithtech engine.

I was working on this team that had a publisher coming out to hear pitches. We had a couple of good ideas, but they were shelved in favor of a fantastically lame "hybrid" sci-fi/fantasy game; alternate ancient Earth history drivel. I offered some advice: "These days, the only thing you should want to do less than another fantasy or science fiction game is both." This was echoed by the publisher's acquisition guy when he arrived and said "I've literally heard this same pitch five times this week."
