First, the interview breezes over the question of why their first publishing deal fell through. It also breezes over why the game is suddenly moved all the way back to Q4 of 2003.
Then out of nowhere comes THIS bombshell...
For several months now we have had the basic framework of the technology finished and our full development tool chain in place and stable. With these foundations in place we are now in a position to focus on game-play content creation and special effects.
...and you realize, holy shit, there isn't any game. Not playable, anyway. And here we were led to expect a release in a few months. Bah!
