American McGee's Oz News
by Maarten Goldstein, Nov 21, 2002 12:34pm PSTBlues News notes that the Carbon6 site has been redesigned, offering (among other things) more info about American McGee's Wizard of Oz game which we really hadn't heard much about so far. Infogrames will be releasing Oz on PC and Xbox in 2004. Book (?) and movie deal announcements are forthcoming. There's also this single screenshot
American McGee puts his signature touch on another classic children's tale. This time the Lands of Oz are visited in a prequel adventure to the original books that will take you on a colorful journey through a unique world filled with dozens of interesting characters and stories. "Oz offers a diverse world and large range of characters to explore and meet." said American from his Hollywood design studio, "I'm really excited to be working with such rich material and amazing technology."

American McGee - If you're referring to Oz we haven't decided just yet. I will say that what I've seen of the new id tech is pretty amazing, but no, we do not currently have any projects in development with the new DOOM engine.
- According to this, it could possibly be Unreal Tech (although from that screenshot it sure doesn't look like it)

- Lastly, it was said the game was to have a tentative Christmas 2003 release
http://www.shacknews.com/onearticle.x/18252/
I guess that slipped... although we all know too well how reliable tentative release dates are...
Huh. At least I guess there'll be lots of content...?
/me ducks
Don't release a screen shot unless it make people go wow.

Quick Google Check brought up these links. Release date says January 2003, but who knows if that's accurate or not.

Looks someone did a very bad cut & paste job with this site redesign, tho.
Now I look at Oz and think "what poop is this?". Not only does the screenshot look kinda weak, but I can't find any info on the Carbon6 web site on what engine it does in fact use. Also, the Carbon6 website design is ass. Top that off with the oz infogrames Games website link posted on the Carbon6 website gives me a 'page not found" error page. Woot! GG, carbon6 - off to a great start.

Really hoping this will be like Alice, one of the best single player games ever.
Not very risky on the backend I would think
