First Post!

Yay for Friday. This weekend will be all about gaming. Got Hitman 2, The Thing and No One Lives Forever 2 to get through. I haven't played too much of NOLF2 yet, sadly I got kinda bored during the first few missions. I dig Hitman 2 though, despite, as I mentioned yesterday, not really being a silent assassin. But I'm slowly getting better at the stealth play. Encountered a nasty sound bug yesterday though that left my ears ringing because the volume increased ten fold and out came some screeching sound mixed with normal sounds. That sucked a lot. So that new Harry Potter movie opens today. I saw the first one on DVD when I was at Steve's earlier this year but it just didn't do anything for me. Easy to see why people like it though, and it's better that money is spent on something good instead a crappy movie with a lot of ad dollars thrown at it. Movie: She's not my special lady friend, man. I'm just helping her conceive.

  • In the beginning of september I couldn't code a hello world app in C++ without looking up a reference. Now I know about templates, subclassing, virtual and pure virtual functions, reference parameters, exceptions, and a bunch of STL. I feel like I'm a decent coder now. Me and another guy put together a real 25-30K line Java Swing app from start to finish this summer, and the code is not overly complicated and it looks decent. If things go well it will be bundled with a much bigger app and people at IBM, HP, and EMC will be getting it when they purchase the bigger piece of software.

I am thinking of applying to Microsoft and IBM this summer. If I get a job, my only concern is pay. I made very good money last summer working in San Jose and I saved a lot and it looks like I'll be able to pay my entire school year's expenses with the money I made. Does anybody know how well the big companies pay interns? Would it cover my tuition/rent/food/etc ??
