BF1942 Community Update
by Maarten Goldstein, Nov 08, 2002 4:14pm PSTThere is a minimal new community update at the official Battlefield 1942 website. The 1.2 patch is still coming "soon", while the Linux server has been slightly delayed to incorporate the changes from 1.2. In addition to that there's a list of links to user-created mods. Thanks timm.

I'm not all too hot for the 1.2 patch like the below mofos are, I don't feel there's a lot missing as it is and I doubt this patch will correct even half as much as the "complainers" want it to. I look forward to less grenade vs tank damage and stronger machineguns on the vehicles, aswell as the increased bombing capabilities of the B17. Don't have a problem with the netcode (neither does anyone who plays on my server to my knowledge, they all ping <40) but then Sweden is laced with broadband.
In unrelated news, I just installed Natural Selection for HL and will be trying it out pretty soon. Hopefully it's as good as Gloom was for Quake2.

What really amazes me is that the netcode problem was largely "fixed" within a week of the release of the mod, but EA and Dice have been tweaking away on a patch that won't even address the network code for months now.
Once Dice and EA fix the netcode, guaranteed I'll start playing again, but until then, it's back to Natural Selection (which is really good, if you haven't given it a shot yet, do so, it's well worth it).
I can rack up 25-30 kills in a 20 minute match, I guess Im just weird eh?
This game rocks, CS will always be there for the 486/28.8 crowd
