Got some bummer news for you EverQuest freaks out there trying to cash in on all those hard earned characters. It looks like you won't be able to sell them on E-Bay anymore according to this ZDNet article. This seems pretty darn strange to me that they would outlaw it. I suppose the thinking is it will cause more players to earn their characters "honestly" which means more online play time of EQ equating to more profit. Or.. uh.. something. Of course if I had read the article more closely the first time around I would have realized that 989 won't be enforcing this law...

  • Heh - the last paragraph sums it up nicely.

\"And the warning to users may have little affect. 989 Studios will not enforce the rule, said Lustenberger. \"There are probably some people who are making a living selling EverQuest characters.\" \"

They\'re just pointing out it\'s illegal because people are bitching to 989/Sony that they\'re getting ripped off. I will translate: \"It\'s illegal, but we\'re not going to do anything about it. You got ripped off? Tough -- it was illegal in the first place.\"

They\'re not going to stop people from selling or buying accounts. Just go about your business and pretend nothing happened. It doesn\'t matter.

    EQ sucks anyway. Ask sTeve.
