Following the European demo earlier this week, Strategy First has now released an U.S. version of the Earth 2150: Lost Souls demo. In the US demo you play as the United Civilized States instead of the Lunar Corporation.

  • Hmm, is this one that bad? I had the original Earth 2150 and played it a lot in SP for a while, before tiring of it. I had issues with it that didn't lead me to buy the sequel. But I'm downloading this demo now just to have another look. I'm hoping I'll be pleasantly surprised.

One thing I really hated about the original (and I suppose it must be true of the other games using this engine) is the horrible way in which aircraft moved. Why have no RTSes since TA been able to do the realistic movement that aircraft (like the Hawk) in that game had?

  • This entire franchise is so sad to me. It's a *superlative* RTS engine in need of someone that can do something great with it.

All the RTS games I have tried in this line and have extremely heavy handed to the point that you HAVE to win the game the way THEY want you to and in the WAY they want you to. No fun.

I keep waiting and waiting and waiting for someone to recapture the simplicity and fun of Total Annihilation. All the companies continually just want to make RTS's more and more complicated and more and more scripted. Sux.
