New World Order Update
by Maarten Goldstein, Oct 18, 2002 8:14am PDTPublisher Project Three Interactive sent out this update on New World Order, the team based FPS in development at Termite Games. We hadn't really heard much about this game since the release of beta 2.0 back in August. There were many issues with that beta demo, but supposedly it's all been worked out and the game is now scheduled to go gold next week. European and Asian players can look for this game to show up in stores November 15, people in the U.S. will have to wait as the game is not expected to be released there until January.
We have received tons of feedback from the gaming community and have spent the last few months perfecting the MP experience and developing the singleplayer part of the game. We know we have been kind of silent lately but I assure you the only reason was the we were buried in work twenty four seven. The team was expanded even more by Project 3 with additional programmers, designers and a producer and we have been rolling like a steamtrain. We realize the Beta 2.0. still caused problems for some players but we have taken care of the remaining bugs and perfected the gameplay. I guess the biggest issue on servers with that beta was that players without the necessary update DirectPlay 8.2. could also join, thus creating lag and messing up the fun. Fortunately we can now reveal NEW WORLD ORDER players will need to install Microsoft DirectX 8.2. which will be on the NWO CD. We thank Microsoft for their support and for creating this updated version of DirectX. ...

Translation: Euro and Asian gamers can look forward to getting the really messed up version, while the U.S players wait until January after its been patched 3 million times (because they know if they piss off the shackers again, they're done).
I am glad to see they hired additional programmers (that poor 1 guy), and designers. I'm sure that sped up the process a LOT. I look forward to a third demo before I opt to buy it

I'm sure they've made progress and all, but I couldn't get a descent game going _AT ALL_ with the Beta2 release, even on a LAN. The effects were pretty, but just not worth it with all the crashing and bad lag. Maybe if they release a demo of some sort...

can I laugh now? Or do I need to actually play this game?
now... damn.. it's so bottom shelf.
At the last beta when most couldn't play it and those that could were just lagging out,,, they (i.e., the people in the company) were SHOUTING people down in the official forums and just totally deleting whole threads.
I swear that's the truth! Do you want THOSE people standing behind a game you purchase? HELL NO!
I'm done with this game and that company forever. Caveat Emptor!
