There is a new ATI Radeon 8500 driver out, which may fix a problem in No One Lives Forever 2. If Chapter 8 in the game the system hangs for you, you will probably want to get this driver. Thanks NOLF Girl.

  • I have to say that I was a pretty skeptical of ATI but nontheless decided to bite the bullet and get a Radeon 9700 (why buy an inferior card on a brand new performance cpu?). I am very impressed however by the quality of these Catalyst drivers(I have no experience prior to the R9700 with ATI). They are improving quite substantially with every release. and ATI is clearly taking them very seriously. You can just see by the occasional posts of ATI engineers in rage3d.com that they are trying to really improve their reputation for quality.

I feel that ATI does deserve some credit for improving the quality of both their hardware and their software a lot. Considering that they are essentially using a new technology (agp 8x) I have had relatively few problems. Some people obviously haven't but I think that most people are quite satisfied

The one thing that Scary really should mention is that they released a new 9700 set of drivers in conjunction with these 8500 drivers and they really are kickass, they gave me an extra 5-10fps in ut2003 and cleared out that last bit of problems I was having with ut2k3.
