Hooray for the weekend. Spending lots of time doing very little and it's oh so draining. I think for tonight I also to do very little some more.. I'm a glutton for punishment I guess.

- HP getting into the TV business? Kinda - Amazingly interesting story about rocket belts - Asia has lots of broadband - China bars minors from web cafes - Man vs machine in Chess, man winning this one! - Nothin like calling for a hooker to mess up your relationship with your wife.. and your daughter.
Lastly, amazingly I enjoyed all 3 of the Diehard movies.. but is Diehard 4 just gonna eat the poo or what?

  • Minor poll rant:

CNNStyle Poll - Vote for A, B, or C, whichever you most passionately believe in:

    A) 2 + 2 = 3
    B) 2 + 2 = 4
    C) 2 + 2 = 5

Well have the results in a few hours.

    ... few hours later ...

    WhOOp! Results are in:

    A) 2 + 2 = 3 ----- 24% of the vote
    B) 2 + 2 = 4 ----- 13% of the vote
    C) 2 + 2 = 5 ----- 63% of the vote

    "Our poll concludes that 2+2=5"

Well, it's good that we've asked people yet again for their opinion on factually analyzed, extensively researched, and scientifically refined issues. And found out all those good hard years of quality work were wrong.

The poll that set me off was this poll on tech-tv or something that asked if coffee makes you smarter. They asked this to the general audience. The general audience has no qualification for answering this question, so the results are a) peoples intuitions and prejudices or b) just pure noise.

    Smack these people hard.

Yes they say its non-scientific... that's very admirable. But they also need to say that "The results of these polls are absolutely meaningless. No systematic methodology was employed to ensure even marginal quality/accuracy of the result. If you accept the poll findings, and believe them credible, you will die horribly, and then come back to die horribly again!"

  • here is my question. i have all the stuff set up in my house for my comcast cable modem internet, the cat5 cable, the router, all i need to figure out what spliter i can use to make it work. cuase i only have one coax cable coming into the upstairs, and i want to put a spliter on that to go to the TV and the cable modem. as i understand it, i need rg-6 cable and i do, but i cannot seem to keep the signal. my cable modem will stay on for an hour and then go off for like 4. it sucks as it is right now. i know its not the signal or anything coming in, cause if i take the orginal coax and plug it into the cable modem it works fine. so its either my coax that goes from the spliter or the spliter. someone wanna throw me a bone here. cauase i cannot seem to find a techincal support phone number to comcast at all, cause their home page is horrible.
