At the European Xbox event X02, Microsoft and Rare at long last made it official, announcing their buyout deal, valued at $375 million. By now we've all talked this one to death, but there are a few things worth mentioning. On Xbox.com, you can check out a direct feed video of the pre-rendered CGI teaser video (scroll down a bit, it's there), which features Joanna Dark, Banjo (or is that Kazooie?), Conker and that chick with the wings from Kameo playing around with an Xbox logo. Most significant about this is Conker's large role, suggesting that despite its poor sales, an Xbox sequel to Conker's Bad Fur Day is very much going to happen. Also of note is Rare's revamped home page, which features an open letter to fans and a profile of Kameo: Elements of Power, which has been confirmed to be their first Xbox title and if the press release is to be believed will ship in the spring.

Xbox Cel-shaded Perfect Dark? Will Perfect Dark 0 wind up being cel-shaded? That's been rumored for a while, even before talk of the Microsoft deal started brewing, but first that teaser mentioned above and now these concept images have hit the web, and they're certainly more cartoony than the style in the original. But nothing's been announced, so don't start the flame wars just yet.
Xbox Wait -- Did he just say Killer Instinct? Still more Rare buzz for you tonight...while it wasn't mentioned anywhere prior to this (so take it with plenty of salt), Computer and Video Games claims that a Microsoft representative mentioned the above franchises plus Killer Instinct and the early N64 title Blast Corps. In case you can't tell, I'm pretty skeptical here, as I can't imagine why Killer Instinct would have been left out of any of the major announcements.
PS2 Say wha...? Is this image really the first teaser from Final Fantasy X: Another Lord? Gamers.com seems to think so, but I just don't know what to make of that super-sexified version of Yuna from FFX that was on sale at the Tokyo Game Show (where this game was noticeably absent). Thanks karen sympathy for posting that in the comments last night.
GameCube GameSpot GameCube Madness A ton of new GameCube shots and movies are up at GameSpot tonight...here's a rundown: there's a new movie and screenshots from Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicle, 36 new shots from The Legend of Zelda (working title), 14 new shots from Metroid Prime, 12 new shots from Mario Party 4 and 34 new shots from Resident Evil 0.
GameBoy Advance GameSpot GBA Madness Still more Nintendo-related media at GameSpot, this time all for GBA: there's a new movie and screenshots from Pokemon Advance, a movie and screenshots from Klonoa Heroes, a movie and screenshots from Sonic Advance 2, a new movie and screenshots from Final Fantasy Tactics Advance, new shots from Kirby: Nightmare in Dreamland and some new shots from The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past.
Xbox Beat House of the Dead 3, get HotD2 Now here's a fun extra to include with a game...according to a report on Games Are Fun, the full version of House of the Dead 2 will be available to players of House of the Dead 3 after they finish the game.
Xbox Sudeki Announced While it's naturally been overshadowed by other announcements at the show, Climax and Microsoft announced today Sudeki, a four-player co-op RPG.
GameCube PS2 Xbox New StarCraft: Ghost Shots Blizzard has updated their official StarCraft: Ghost site with three new screenshots from the game. As no platform has been announced yet, I'm classifying this one as being for all three until I hear otherwise.
Xbox Xbox Live Pack-ins While it's not Phantasy Star Online (which is what Japanese gamers will be getting), Microsoft has announced that Whacked! and Moto GP will be included with the North American version of the Xbox Live starter kit, along with the voice communicator, demo disc and a year's worth of Xbox Live access. On a related note, a new Q&A with Jon Thommason, the director of software development for Microsoft's Xbox team is up at Computer and Video Games, talking about Xbox Live.
PS2 Xbox Does Robotech Suck? GameSpot has posted their reviews of the PS2 and Xbox versions of Robotech: Battlecry, and prepare yourselves here Macross-fans...they're not particularly enthusiastic. I'll be adding this game to the ShackReviews database this weekend along with Animal Crossing and Kingdom Hearts among others).
Console Game of the Evening: Blast Corps for the Nintendo 64. While it's hardly one of Rare's best, this game was certainly worth playing when you grew tired of Pilotwings 64 and Mario 64 (if such a thing is possible).
