BF1942 Impressions

Fuck, I am just back from a three hour session playing BF1942. This game unrealistic as it is is just a blast. Got to love it.

Sounds like just the reverse of wake island.

That looks so much like the opening scene of Saving Private Ryan. And it's just weird that I started watching it again last night.

Looks pretty good, Iwo Jima was far more rugged then Wake and this map looks it. The Japanese base on Iwo Jima looks to be quite the repository for lots of vehicles as it should be as they were deeply entrenched there.

I am kinda wondering how they are going to provide the allies with decent tank support as landing craft can't be fitted with them, I tried. ;) Iwo Jima was incredibly steep too, making tanks coming off the landing craft have limited mobility anyhow. Since the game just lets you commandeer enemy bases/vehicles, I doubt it will be an issue.

For those of you waiting on primarily a sea battle, Midway will fit that bill. Multiple carriers on each side, battleships aplenty, a just a bare scrap of land to fight over. Small enough that ships on one side of it could target targets on the other without the use of scouts.

Can't wait.
