Happy Super Mario Sunshine day everybody! Here's a link to GameSpot's so-so review (I'll be adding it to the ShackReviews database this weekend). If you pre-ordered it, chances are that it's on its way to you now, if you haven't already picked it up. My copy's on its way, but in a particular bit of bad timing, I've got three previews to write over the next two weeks, so my schedule's kinda full. Of course, this weekend is labor day, and I can't possibly work that whole time, now can I? Somehow I think I'll manage to squeeze a bit o' Mario in there somewhere.

PS2 New Final Fantasy, Dragon Quest at TGS? According to one list, Square will be showing Final Fantasy XII and Sony will be showing Dragon Quest VIII at next month's Tokyo Game Show. Nothing's official yet, so don't get too excited just yet.
PS2 More Square News Tying into the story above, Square may be set to announce a new game this week. While Games Are Fun speculates that the game might be the long-rumored Chrono Break, I'm holding out for a single player-only Final Fantasy XII. On a related note, here's some miscellaneous Square news, with details about their plans for Final Fantasy XI, which includes an "advanced version" re-release in Japan.
PS2 Again with the Square News According to Games Are Fun, Square's Final Fantasy X side stories, which have never been displayed anywhere, will be at the Tokyo Game Show, but available only behind closed doors. It was recently confirmed that these will be out this year in Japan, so hopefully we'll find out some real details soon.
PS2 Hah PS2.IGN got a funny package from Microsoft.
GameBoy Advance Lunar Legend Official It has been virtually confirmed (heck, we had a release date already) but Ubi Soft finally got around to officially announcing their plans to release Lunar Legend in the U.S. later this year. You may recall that Working Designs passed on this game, saying that cramming the Sega CD game into a GBA cart lost too much in the process.
Xbox Lots of Shenmue 2 Shots You'll need an Insider subscription to look at more than five of them (unless you delete your cookies) but IGN has posted a crapload of new shots from the Xbox port of Shenmue II.
GameCube Sonic Collection Details IGN was able to check out Sega's Sonic Mega Collection at Nintendo's Gamers Summit, and they have posted some new details. Apparently the decision to drop Sonic CD is based on the fact that a GameCube disc only has 1.5 GB of storage space, but that extra space will now be taken up by fun extras, including scans of all the packaging and lots of "unlockable surprises."
GameCube Nintendo Rumors Apparently this month's Electronic Gaming Monthly has all kinds of rumors about Nintendo's. According to the magazine, Mario Kart will be online compatible, and available in the first half of 2003, followed by Mario Party Online and Animal Crossing Online. A GameCube sequel to Advance Wars is also said to be in production, although online multiplayer was not suggested for the title.
PS2 Tribes Aerial Assault Preview GameSpot has a new preview of Tribes Aerial Assault online tonight. The preview was actually posted on Friday, but the site went down for the weekend before I could post a link to it.
Xbox Xbox DVD Rebate If you're planning on picking up an Xbox between now and November 2nd, Microsoft is offering a $30 rebate if you get a DVD playback kit (making it effectively free). Swing by here for details.
Console Game of the Evening: Battle Arena Toshinden for the PSOne. Feh. I never understood what people saw in this. I looked at this on the PSX and Virtua Fighter on the Saturn and just didn't get it.

  • i have super mario sunshine!

it is gorgeous, especially the pretty water in the ocean around the island. i love the tease of seeing the later areas REALLY far away from the main hub area too. i am struggling with the camera and some of the precise jumping in 3d. hopefully this just gets easier the more you play, as i have gotten sorta frustrated.

in the meanwhile, i am exploring the main hub. there are a bunch of secrets here, and some are sorta tricky! there is a shine hidden in plain sight that is aggravating me, as i have gotten NEAR it, but not in the room of course.

so far so good. more later.
