NOLF2 Teaser Demo

I just finished checking out the teaser. My system is an AMD XP 1900+ running at 1740mhz, 786 mb ram, Geforce4 4600 TI using the 30.82 Detonators under Windows XP Pro. I played the teaser at 1152x864 highest quality on all settings.

It ran very smooth. From this admittedly short taste I came away with the following opinions..

[1] This thing should run on just about anyone's system as far as system requirements go. It is not a resource hog nor is it a very strenuous engine.

[2] Doesn't hold a candle to the latest Unreal Engine builds (leave Doom 3 out of it.. nothing is in that class). Frankly it doesn't even match Wolfenstein, MOH, SOF2, or JK2 except perhaps for the atmospheric effects which are pretty cool. But nevertheless the graphics were good enough for this year.

[3] The weapons (pistol and shotgun) lacked some serious accoustical punch. After playing MOH and SOF2 this games sounds down right wimpy. But that can be fixed before it ships.

[4] The movement and feel of the player is much too light. I mean you can control the player easy enough.. but it just doesn't feel solid enough. I guess to carry wimpy weapons you have to be pretty light.. ;)

All that being said.. the first game was more about the gameplay than anything technical.. so if this one follows suit and has the same humor then it should be quite fun to play and I will definitely pick it up and have some fun with Cate.. ;)

Then get Unreal 2 and have a serious mission to complete.

Then get Doom3 and get the crap scared out of me..

These three should cover all the bases as far as pure FPS's go. And if by a miracle Duke Nukem 2 gets released some day that would be the icing on the cake. Plus a few of those less publicized titles released by lesser known companies have got to be good. So the next 9 months should keep me booked and pretty happy FPS wise! :)
