First Post!
by Maarten Goldstein, Aug 22, 2002 7:29am PDTHad a really good night in Battlefield 1942 last night. Turning down sound to 11khz helped performance even more as some people had indicated. Still had the occasional slowdown, but not so much during combat anymore. This allowed for a few kills and I even ended up in the top 4 after a round ended for once. Adding of older files to FileShack had slowed in the past two weeks, but I expect we'll pick it up at the end of the week again. Lots of things still to add. Movie: So many people to kill... so little time.

Hi. I haven't posted one of these in a while because of work and tiredness/laziness derived from it :/
But, I'm back because school is starting and I'll have quite enough time to relax in a quiet classroom :)
Enough bullshit, here's the music:
Ampop - ampop/period
http://www.itn.is/~ovo/ampop-ampopperiod.mp3
8.8MB @ 256kbit CBR
It's from Ampop's first album, 'Nature is not a virgin' which was released two years ago in only 500 copies. They will release a new album this autumn and I'll probably post something from it when I get my greedy hands on it.
The song itself, like the album, is quite downtempo and relaxed. Hope you don't get depressed or anything :[
That's it.

Panda pic I shot at the ZOO. There was a long line and this was the best pic to get out. They really want you to be quiet and not make any noise. They were really cute, and I just wanted to jump the fence and give the bear a little hug.

There is nothing wrong with the netcode, its actually quite excellent. but, in the demo there is a Server bug that causes all those "warning connection problem" and making people's ping go up to 1023. Also there is a problem in the client that can cause the server to go fubar (****ed up beyond all recognition ~Fordaz).
This has all been adressed in the final version.
Also, the crash-bug, ie; you get a black screen and it crashes back to the desktop with an error log saying "invalid videomode specified"
Solution: If you have ANY sort of Nvidia REFRESHRATE-FIX,/Refresh Force etc remove it, or move back to 60hz for the resolution that you play with, there's a bug with those sort of programs that causes the crash. This has of course also been adressed.

How you gonna come?
With your hands on your head
Or on the trigger of your gun
When the law break in
How you gonna go?
Shot down on the pavement
Or waiting on death row"

Just wanted to say thanks to multisync... if any of you have a similar problem to this in a MS Proxy/SBS server environment gimme a holler... it has to do with the proxy settings for IE, and the IE client. Its a very poorly documented problem that I only found info on in a technet database... so as I say... yell at me if you get stuck with these suckers.
