The AI in the game is very good, on par or better than other FPS on the market. The bots in Devastation are sound aware, so if you kick a can nearby, they'll stop their conversation and come running to investigate. You snipe one guard, and the others will either take cover, shoot at you, or come charging in. No, you're not going to be playing a virtual hide-n-seek game with the bots, but you also aren't going to be able to predict their actions either.
Oh, and the graphic engine is the latest Unreal engine, so it's the same as a handful of other games *coming* to the market, the first of which being Unreal Tournament 2003, then Unreal II, Splinter Cell, etc. And to be quite honest with you, unless you're talking Doom III, it's gonna be hard to find any visually superior games out there to this one. Different environments from what you are used to seeing, especially when you take the rats-eye view of the Rat Bomb's cam and sneak up on some guards and blow them to hell.
Sucking my balls has nothing to do with it. :)

I'm also a beta-tester and commenter, and "whatever the hell else needs to be done with the game" kind of guy.

Storyline is cyberpunkish future, and interactivity will be high...and AI will be there as well. All around, I think you'll be very pleased with this game--it's going for the total experience. Nice graphics don't mean jack squat if the game isn't fun to play...and it should be a good integration of gameplay and graphics when it hits shelves this winter.

Bots will crouch, hide behind walls and barrels, run, charge, do whatever in the hell you could imagine.
Screenshots with out enemies in them (because they are hiding around a corner and poking out to shoot) don't tend to be very exciting. The tend to elicit "what the hell are you shooting at? Aren't there enemies in this game? har har pfffrrt." type comments.
How about you listen to the interview before making a snap judgement?
