A new version of the Generations Arena mod for Quake 3 was released last night. We have FileShack mirrors of the full download and v0.99a to v0.99b upgrade. Generations Arena offers several player classes, inspired by id game classics.

I was all excited by this release. I fired up q1dm2 and turned into the q1 guy. I approach the button to make the U-turn into the lava pit room. I say "fuck the button, time for some q1 physics" As i try to make the classic u-turn jump across the lava, the game sends me jumping straight forward, dying in 2 seconds. /escape, quit, yes, are you sure you want to delete 'generations', yes.

as much as I love q3 (one of my favorite games), I dont see why many modders attempt to put so much effort into a mod when the general comunity will not play it online. I download the mod to see how good it is and almost 90 percent of the time I dont find any players online.

What exactly makes a mod explode into the success of CS (btw I really hate cs)

Vorlonesque, you should see this thing run with OCR A Extended installed as the console font. The loading screen looks crezzy, man!

If I knew a bit more about the Q3TA menu scripting language, I'd try tackling the HUD next. Oh, how I wish I could get gfx/2d/numbers working in there once again. Also, I wish there was a way to double the resolution of the Freetype fonts; the default HUD readouts look like complete ass right now with that small-sized font stretched out.

btw this just shows how different (the physics) of each id game is. This includes the weapons. So no more bashing of ID always coming out with the same weapons, when every other company does the same exact thing!!!

I've been playing Quake 3 a lot more lately. Once you get bored with CS there really is nothing worth playing out there besides Q3 RA3. I'll have to check this mod out.

anyone intrested in helping make Smashq3? 3 classes (light- faster, gets knocked off easier, and charges weapon up fastest, med class, then heavy - slow, hard to knock off, charges weapon slower), holding down the fire buttong charges weapons, similar play style to smash brothers, (double jump with a 3 attack jump), ledge grabing, and the point is to get health percentage up to knock people off the map
