The only company that can convince me to install beta crap to play a beta game is id software, period. And even then, cuz their ringleader (THE CARMACK) is so damn good, I trust him -- even if I don't even know him. Hell, for all I know, he could be like Idoru -- totally synthetic.

I'm going to download a beta of DirectPlay so I can play the MP beta demo form the guys that brought me the demo that wouldn't load and crashed when I hit shift?

Uhm, no.

DirectPlay, *shudder*

Isn't DirectPlay the reason why Id, Epic, Blizzard, BioWare, Monolith, and lots of other developers make their netcode in-house or license it from developers who have done so?
