I really like the way the shots from this game are looking - that said, I still go into an uncontrollably violent rage (check CNN for details) every time I see a "new" engine without bump-mapping, specularity, and reflection maps. Is it really that hard for developers? Halo did it almost a year ago... it's old technology as far as I'm concerned and I'm getting to the point were I don't want to shell out $$ for a "new" game that doesn't support year-old features. See what I'm saying, yah?

Take a look at those shots with the tiles on the floor, boys and girls. That ain't no Geforce series card those shots were taken from because the anisotropic filtering looks WAY too good and FSAA is running too. I wonder if they are playing with a Radeon 9700 or just a plain old 8500....

This looks okay, I liked the first game, but I'm not seeing any vast improvements in the quality of the screenshots and levels over the first game. Monolith has released quite a few fairly impressive looking tech demos, like the one of the stream, but I'm not seeing that in these shots... Not that the first game looked bad, but with the likes of UT2 close to being released, at least the demo (we hope) it's going to start taking more and more to impress.

Yes yes, graphics aren't everything, but at a certian point, it's going to be hard to put down something as nice looking as UT2 and take a step back to something else. I hope I'm wrong, I've always been a fan of lithtech games, and AvP2 was really nice looking, I thought, except for the evil scientist's scary black eyelids...
