Well it looks like all the rumors about the next-gen ATI videocard are set to be confirmed or dispelled quite soon. The ATI Radeon 9700 is set to be launched tomorrow. There has been buzz within the industry among developers and other 'professionals' that this will be ATI's biggest shot in quite a while. Have a look see:

the new chips will offer considerably higher performance than Nvidia's current GeForce4 roster, giving ATI the edge with gamers as well as PC makers, analysts said. And even after Nvidia comes out with its GeForce 5 in a few months, the competition between the two will remain close.
This would be the card that DOOM3 was shown on at E3 btw.

  • damn i bought a geforce 4 ti 4400 about 1 month ago. does that mean i'm sad that ati has a new card umm lets see no!!! i love my card. i have a 1.4ghz althlon and get about 9500 on 3d mark 2001 se which is great my last card for a geforce 3ti 200 and beforce geforce 2 ti. which i still have my every other card i've had from nvidia from tnt1 to the current. what nvidia has and will always do for us is great divers. ATI might have a fast card. but how many people will buy a card that drivers will only be updated a few months a year. I think its about does a compnay stand behind there product and nvidia has always updated every card they can from tnt to the current. in a few months nvidia will release there new card (well the specs and a prototype) and it will once again rock and kick ass. and again we will all pay about 400.00 again and get the best. Nobody said that pc gaming was going to be cheap. if your a cheap ass then go play on a console. which that in mind i think its agbout time i got get a P4 2.4Ghz chip so my card can at least show all its horse power and will last me for about 2 more years. hell not until doom3/ unreal 2003 will see what kind of system you will need for the next few years.
