More Carmack Q3 Work

Yet another evening .plan update from John Carmack on the latest changes he's made to Quake3. It's mostly just technical mumbo jumbo. He's like, working on it or something though I'm pretty sure. I guess the only real change that might really interest you guys is he's now got a seperate sound channel setup for all local client sounds so you don't miss any. I'm guessing that means no more missing the "hit tone" when you tag someone with a rail on Q3Test2 eh?

  • One would hope since they\'re getting down to the \"very tiny things\" that this means there is not much major stuff left to do. Really, if they release 1.09 on the 26th (some magazine said that, forgot which one), they would probably be able to finish up by mid-November or so(unless they find some super-duper ugly bugs), maybe even as late as early December, if they still have things left to finish after this test. Even if the game isn\'t done this year, it will be out by Christmas, like it or not. Sure id wants to make a good game and have it done when it\'s ready, but I can\'t see them denying tons of revenue just to fix up some bugs.

  • Waah, I just want a perfect game with lots of maps and lots of free maps that changes whenever I whine about weapon balance and I want ti to change instantly with no wait time and I don\'t want patches neither but I want to change the rules of the game all the time and I want it now and I don\'t want to wait for christmas and I will bitch at them for not making eb\'s projected release date because eb obviously knows when q3 will ship much more than some punk named graeme would and i want less lag because my 14.4 cant go as fast and my ati rage card has sucky graphics and I\'\'m sure they can code around that and make me run at 100 fps like those guys do and..
